Our Background
Our History:

The Womens' Missionary Society (WMS) has been a part of the First Baptist Church for many years. Our former pastor, Dr. Jack Hyles, felt that the WMS was one of the most valuable tools in helping our missionaries. It also helps connect our people with missionaries in our church and around the world.
Dr. Jack Schaap, our current pastor, is continuing our church's tradition with a vision of sending out one thousand missionaries in the future. This gives our WMS a challenge to keep on growing and being faithful to the great purpose for which we were founded.
Our Purpose:

1. To acquaint the ladies of our church with our missionaries

2. To help the missionary endeavors of our church
     a. to correspond with our foreign missionaries
     b. to meet the physical needs of those on the field and those home on furlough
     c. to pray for our missionaries and their work

3. To help the shut-ins of our church
     a. to correspond with our shut-ins (those physically unable to attend church any
         longer)
     b. to visit and fellowship with them
     c. to uphold them in prayer

4. To encourage ladies to be soul winners

5. To aid the bereaved of the church family by supplying meals

6. To be ready to help whenever requested by our church

7. To provide Christian fellowship for the ladies of First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana
